As a member of Sno-King Kiwanis we believe you will enjoy many rewarding experiences. You will be "building" a better community and new relationships as a result of your participation in community service projects and activities. Along with opportunities for constructive action come responsibilities as a member of Sno-King Kiwanis.
Some of the principal activities and responsibilities of Sno-King Kiwanis are as follows:
CLUB MEETINGS
Our club meets every Friday at 6:45 a.m.
in the South County Senior Center in downtown Edmonds. A varied breakfast is followed by a program that lasts until approximately 8: 00 a.m.
COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS
Throughout the year our club participates in a wide variety of community service projects to benefit the community. These include the
Key Club at Edmonds-Woodway High School, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, the Edmonds Citizen of the Year, the annual Kiwanis Prayer Breakfast, the Smith-Wright House, the International Chaplain's Ministry, Operation Night Watch, and local youth scholarships. We also assist the disabled and elderly folks in our community.
FUND-RAISING PROJECTS
To raise money to support the above programs we work on various projects. Our major event is assisting with the Taste of Edmonds in late summer. We also work with Key Club assisting with the Edmonds Arts Festival. We sell discount coupon books and gourmet nuts and hold garage sales. We donate thousands of dollars each year from these and other activities.
CLUB ACTIVITIES
The Sno-King Kiwanis has built a reputation as a "fun" club with a number of social events that include spouses and friends. We host a very special Christmas Dinner. Our annual "Crab Feed" in January is our social highlight of the year. This has become our most popular and effective fund raiser. We end each year with our annual Installation Banquet where we install new officers, salute the past, and share plans for the future.
KIWANIS PUBLICATIONS
Our club publishes a bi-weekly newsletter called the "Sno-Flake" that reviews the weekly meetings and briefs members on upcoming events. Additionally, members receive Kiwanis International's monthly magazine and the District newspaper "The Builder" six times each year.
INDUCTION OF NEW MEMBERS
This is an important event in the life of Sno-King Kiwanis. In a brief ceremony at a regular meeting, a new member is inducted into the club. He/she receives a "K" pin, is formally introduced and is given a warm welcome by the other members. Later a "Fireside" is held for the new member and spouse or significant other, featuring Kiwanis Education (on what Kiwanis is all about).
Upon induction, new members are assigned by the president to a club committee which will correspond to the area of interest indicated on the new member's application. Committee assignments may be changed annually.
DUES
A $40 initiation fee is paid by the new member, which covers membership materials and name badge. Membership dues are due at the start of each fiscal year (Oct. 1) and at this time they are $120/year.
ATTENDANCE
All active members are encouraged to attend our regular weekly meetings. Missed meetings may be "made up" by "visiting" another Kiwanis Club meeting, Key Club meeting, Board Meeting, or participating in a club project or any Kiwanis-sponsored event such as Zone Conference or conventions. Members with perfect attendance (52 meetings) receive special recognition and an award at our annual installation banquet.

Mission:
As a thriving organization of men, women, and youth, we are dedicated to serving the children of the world and improving the quality of life worldwide. Being committed to this mission calls each of us to live by the following Objects of Kiwanis:
To give primacy to the human and spiritual, rather than to the material values of life;
To encourage the daily living of the golden rule in all human relationships;
To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards;
To develop by precept and example a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship;
To provide, through Kiwanis Clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities;
To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and higher idealism, which makes possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and good will.
