YOUNG CHILDREN: PRIORITY ONE

SERVING THE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD

KIWANIS IS A GLOBAL ORGANIZATION OF VOLUNTEERS, DEDICATED TO CHANGING THE WORLD, ONE CHILD and ONE COMMUNITY AT A TIME”

This is so inspiring.  Makes me want to put on my boots and my marching clothes and take off for the WORLD!

  KeyClubNews

As Key Clubbers are still on vacation, there is not much news.  We hope to have a report  on our meeting with the new Principal of Meadowdale High School. Incoming Principal, Dale Cote, will soon be at the school and available.

Good News

The berries are over for this Year and it's time to sit back and relax for a couple of days. This year we rnade a little over $2,300 net. $1,156 on strawberries, $500 on raspberries and $670 on blueberries. We sold 178 boxes of blueberries this year which beat our old record of 138 boxes last year. I feel it was a combination of word of mouth advertising as well as the great article in the Edmonds Beacon. We got all 178 boxes in Ray's and my van and still could have held more. So remember next Year to tell everyone about our blueberries. I think even with our markup we had better prices than local grocery stores. Our berries were better, too.

I enjoyed our programs in July and want to thank John, Billy Joe and Harold for some very interesting topics. I would also like to say I enjoyed our picnic on the 12th. We had some great food and good fellowship. I always like to meet the wives and husbands of our members. Thank especially to Dick Lunstrum for picking out the best chicken.

After September we are changing the organization of oill. program selection groups. We have six groups composed of a chairman and 4 or 5 members. Each group is responsible for 2 months of programs for the coming year. This notice is to get you ready and geared up to find the best programs available.

All the best to all of You!

July 21 Board Meeting

Motion was made and passed unanimously that any Committee which had no expenses listed in the Budget, have the approval of two Board members before committing and submitting any expenses with a full report. All Committee expenses listed in the annual budget cannot be exceeded without full board approval.  Our Market Table was disappointing and the Board  will not do that again. Other income sources provide much more revenue. Jim Buchanan is Chairman of the Sr’s portion of the Taste of Edmonds and Elwin Wright is Sr.s contact for

 Edmonds Night Out against Crime.

MORE ON CONVENTIONS

Larry Merwyn, Lt Governor elect for Division 22, gave us more reports on the International Convention at our July 21 Division meeting. The New Leadership Education Program is for students, primarily in hto achieve high school. This replaces the HOBY program. The mission is to provide a "life changing experience that inspires young people to achieve their personal best through service leadership". Leadership comes from helping others succeed, one of the most important lessons of leadership. PNW's first excursion into this program was in Stanwood, several months ago. Our Division did not send any participants, mainly because we weren't informed. Also, it isn't cheap. Another "class" is September 30th to October 2nd at Milwaukie, OR. More about this later.

There is a Camp for seriously burned children, cost is $250.00er session. It is suggested that each club in a Division donate $50.00 towards a needy burn victim's participation. This way at least one youngster can go from each division.

New Position

Larry told us there will be a new position, that of Division Secretary. This will assist the Lt Governor in his duties, as well as improve communication between clubs. Rod Vroman has accepted this position for Division 22.
