The Monroe Kiwanis Club was chartered on October 19th, 1928, sponsored by the Everett Club.  We are currently 31 members strong, and the oldest club in Division 22 - we celebrated our 80th anniversary this year!

Our Invitation To You:

Please come to one of our Club Meetings to get a feel for what we are all about. We would love to meet you! We meet at noon every Wednesday in the Godard Room at Valley General Hospital, 14701 179th Avenue, Monroe, Washington.  As a guest, you pay nothing, and lunch is included.

Smile: Income tax returns are the most imaginative fiction being written today.

Devotion: “...Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."  Philippians 4:6-7

Prayers: May the words of our mouth and the meditations of our heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord. Amen.

Service to the Community

"Thankful for strength, Honored to serve and Mindful to be gracious, we pray for success in our service to others."      (from the Monroe Club newsletter)

The following points are excerpts from the booklet, Monroe Kiwanis Club History (1928 - 2001).

"Service to the community has been the driving force for the club for more than 70 years and the core reason for its durability. Much of what the club did during seven decades has been long forgotten, but it played a leading role in the community from the start, and still does."

Leadership

"Perhaps its (Monroe Kiwanis Club) leadership is best shown in four activities:

  • It sponsored the formation of other Kiwanis clubs.  Some failed but others went on to serve their communities.
  • It sponsored formation of the Sky Valley Composite Squadron, the Monroe area's Civil Air Patrol.
  • It played a lead role in creating a local fair--The Cavalcade of the Valleys--that lead to the development of the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, one of the nation's largest and best.
  • It helped launch the Sky Valley Food Bank, located in Monroe."
